Explore Normita's Latin Amer Restaurant

Introducing Normita's Latin Amer Restaurant, a warmly familiar Latin American spot located at 2036 Fort Benning Rd in Columbus, Georgia, where the atmosphere feels homey and the cooking leans into comfort and tradition. Stepping inside, the experience often evokes the feeling of a family kitchen-rich aromas, generous portions, and flavors that aim to be deeply satisfying rather than flashy. The menu offers a range of classic dishes, with highlights that include well-prepared empanadas that are crisp and filling, a steak that stands out for its tenderness and flavor, and stewed ribs that deliver a hearty, slow-cooked depth many diners appreciate. Sides like rice and beans are generally enjoyable, providing a solid foundation to the meals, while the plantains can be a real draw when they’re done right, offering that sweet, caramelized bite people expect from plátanos maduros. There is a clear sense that the kitchen cooks from tradition, and when the seasoning lands just right, the food can feel nostalgic and deeply comforting, reminiscent of home-style Latin cooking. The staff contributes to this welcoming feel, often described as friendly and approachable, adding to the relaxed, neighborhood-restaurant vibe. As with many small, family-run eateries, the execution can vary from dish to dish-some items may be lighter on seasoning than expected, and certain preparations, like plantains or beans, may reflect a particular house style that surprises first-time visitors. Still, the overall impression is of a place rooted in genuine flavors and generous spirit, where familiar Latin American staples are served with sincerity and warmth, making it an appealing option for anyone looking for a casual, comforting meal in the Fort Benning Road area.

While waiting for C&D International African Food Mart to open, I decided to eat here because I never caught them while they were open. Oh my goodness, I almost thought mi abuelita was still alive. The food was fantastic and I would eat here everyday if money would allow me.

Pretty good food. Friendly staff. I like their empanadas. The steak was really good. Fish was a little under seasoned but still decent. Plantains were great. Overall a positive experience and I will be going again.

The rice was good and so were the beans, but if y’all put sugar in the beans maybe you shouldn’t. What were supposed to be “platanos maduros”were not. They were too greasy and hard. My husband ordered the stewed ribs, he liked them.

This place (if you are from Latin America ) is a little peace of home in Columbus . I can’t explain how nice was my visit to that place , the workers super extremely kind cuz I brought a non lain friend with me and the worker explained to her all the dishes and everything we really appreciate it. It gets crowded on lunch time so be aware, it opens Monday - Friday 11:30pm-5pm it’s around 8,75$ to eat there and if you want to take out add 2$ more . May only subjection will be make the dessert more traditional beside that everything is awesome.

Im still new to Columbus. However, I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! I could smell the aroma outside before I went inside. The food I ordered was so good! Made me feel like I was back in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Miami! Ever since I ate it once! I been back weekly! This my lil spot and I'll continue to support them! They hooked me up with a free empanada.. If I knew how good they were, I would have gotten 5! Thank y'all! Oh yeah, that green sauce & garlic sauce is a must! Everything was so delicious! Lunch special is only $10.99 and well worth it!
